I bought these light leather Lucky Brand boots knowing that light leather is always a big risk living in a filthy city. Needless to say, within 24 hours, I had accidentally sprayed WD-40 all over them, leaving oily spots on the brand new leather that wouldn’t budge. Bummertown.
After googling a ton of ways to dye leather (including an excruciating process using black tea bags) I decided to try a simple, quick fix by using a leather polish with a tint. $8 dollars and 10 minutes later, I had a new pair of custom boots in a more suitable city color, just by buffing them with the polish and letting them dry for 24 hours. I love the vintage, lived-in look they have now even more than the original pair.
